Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Here are some announcements as we continue to adjust to the new and still-developing reality of this pandemic. All non-essential programs, activities, ministries, and events of St. Augustine's are cancelled for the foreseeable future. This includes the Tuesday Bible Studay, Zumba classes, Wednesday night Eucharist and programming, etc. A decision about Sunday worship services for March 22nd will be forthcoming. The Vestry will meet tonight via Zoom conference. For me personally, the phrase of the week is "hunker down." Regardless of whether we are in a "high risk category," we all have the responsibility, insofar as we are able, to avoid both contracting and spreading the coronavirus. It is imperative to those who, for whatever reason, may need our healthcare system that it not be overwhelmed. Please limit your in-person interaction with others. Please expand your non-direct interactions--telephone, online, letters, emails. You can join me for Morning Prayer Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday at 9:00 am by clicking here: www.facebook.com/staugmet/ You can also reach me on my mobile phone at 504-723-9852. While we may be separated, we are not alone. Please reach out if you need a reminder of that. Here's a prayer from page 461 of the BCP that I found particularly helpful today: In The Morning This is another day, O Lord. I know not what it will bring forth, but make me ready, Lord, for whatever it may be. If I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely. If I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly. If I am to lie low, help me to do it patiently. And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly. Make these words more than words and give me the Spirit of Jesus. Amen. Peace, AJ
