We believe everyone belongs, no matter what age or stage.
Worship
Children and youth are invited to participate fully in the life of our church. They are welcome to explore whatever appeals to them, from singing in the choir or reading scripture on Sundays, to joining in outreach projects or the youth group.
Parents with young children: You are whole-heartedly, joyously welcome! The sound of children is the sound of a living, growing church. God put the wiggle in children; don’t feel you have to suppress those wiggles in God’s house. Some families like to sit toward the front, where it's easier for little ones to see and hear what is going on. Or, in the back of the sanctuary, you will find a chapel space set up specifically for kids. Please feel free to make use of the rocking chair, floor cushions, and quiet toys whenever and however is most helpful to you. You will even find a child-sized altar, Eucharist set, and vestments so that kids can learn and participate in a hands-on, developmentally appropriate way.
Our nursery is currently closed for the summer. During the school year, it is open from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. every Sunday, with attentive staff who have been trained through Safe Church, Safe Communities.

Christian Education & Fellowship
There are lots of opportunities for education, growth, and the building of lifelong relationships in our congregation.
Nursery care and Sunday School for children take place upstairs, above Byrd Hall. Nursery (infants through age 5) and Children's Sunday School (K-Grade 5) have adjoining classrooms. Sunday School begins at 9:15, and the nursery opens at 9:00 to give you extra time to get everyone where they need to be. You can print out the Nursery/Sunday School registration form here. (Drop-ins are always welcome!)
Sunday School takes place every week during the school year except the 1st Sunday of each month. That day, we have Parish Breakfast between the 8:00 and 10:30 services. This is an all-parish event focused on fellowship (and food), and everyone is invited to attend, from the youngest to the oldest. Breakfast (hot coffee/tea, orange juice, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits, and grits) is free to all. The class takes a break for the summer, but little ones are welcome upstairs in the nursery room for Bible stories, coloring and crafts even when Sunday School is not in session.

Youth Group
St. Augustine's youth get together once a month to share a meal, play games, plan service projects, and generally have a great time together. They have their own youth room upstairs, and the group meets on the last Sunday of each month at 5:00 PM. New friends are always welcome!
Events
St. Augustine’s holds lots of events throughout the year which are great fun for kids and adults alike. The Annual Parish Picnic in the summer and Pumpkin-Palooza in the fall are always big hits, as is our annual Pet Blessing. Vacation Bible School is usually held the first full week after Memorial Day, and teaches children Bible stories through storytelling, songs, plays, crafts, and incredibly creative snacks! Please check the bulletin or subscribe to the weekly newsletter to learn about our current and upcoming events.
